Bay & Inshore Fishing Trips
Fishing the calm, scenic waters of Choctawhatchee Bay is a one-of-a-kind experience that blends productive angling with the beauty of Old Florida. Most of our fishing takes place in shallow waters between 1.5 and 18 feet deep, often back in quiet bayous where we chase redfish in completely undeveloped surroundings—no condos, no crowds, just nature. Every trip begins with fresh live bait already loaded and ready to go, so there’s no wasted time. Within 10–15 minutes of leaving the dock, we’re already fishing. It’s ideal for families, new anglers, or anyone who just wants to spend more time catching and less time riding.
Each charter is fully customized to what you’re looking for. Whether you’re hoping to put fish in the cooler, chase a specific species, get steady bites for the kids, or leave it up to the captain’s choice, we’ll chat before the trip to plan the perfect day on the water. A cooler stocked with ice and cold waters is provided, so you can just relax and enjoy the day. For most groups, I recommend a 4-hour trip as it offers the perfect balance of fishing and fun. Our 3 hour trips are shorter durations designed around catch & release fishing for a quick way to experience the bay. We also offer 5- and 6-hour options for those who want to explore further and make the most of every minute.
Our trips generally start around 7AM or 12PM.
Target Species
We are blessed to have a great year round fishery here on the Choctawhatchee Bay!
Spring – Spring kicks off the prime season in Choctawhatchee Bay, especially for speckled trout. As the water warms and baitfish begin to grow, trout move onto the shallow flats in large numbers, making for exciting action on light tackle. Redfish are also active this time of year, particularly around docks and structure where they hold tight and ambush prey. It’s a great season for consistent bites and pleasant weather on the water.
Summer – Summer brings hot weather and fast-paced fishing. Mangrove snapper are thick around bridges, docks, and other structure, offering fun, reliable action and great eating. Spanish mackerel make their seasonal push through the bay as well, chasing schools of baitfish and creating high-energy opportunities. With a variety of species active and calm mornings common, summer is perfect for families and anglers looking for steady action.
Fall – Fall is all about the bull reds. As the water cools, massive schools of adult redfish flood into the bay, creating unforgettable opportunities to hook into drag-screaming giants. These fish often push bait to the surface and can be spotted busting in open water. Trout fishing remains strong in the early part of fall, and the mix of size and species makes it one of the most exciting times to fish.
Winter – Winter in Choctawhatchee Bay offers a quieter, more laid-back experience, but the fishing can still be excellent. Redfish stay active in the shallows, especially on sunny days when the water warms up, and trout can still be found in deeper holes and channels. It’s a great season for those who enjoy calm, cool mornings and less boat traffic while still having the chance to catch quality inshore fish.
Where We Fish
On a fishing charter in Choctawhatchee Bay, we explore a diverse range of spots tailored to the conditions and what you’re hoping to catch. Most days, we stay within a short run of the dock—typically fishing within 10 to 15 minutes of departure. We target the shallow grass flats where speckled trout love to feed, the dock lines and bridge pilings that hold redfish and mangrove snapper, and the winding bayous where we can get deep into the undeveloped, natural beauty of Old Florida.
One of the highlights of fishing this bay is the variety of water we get to fish, all packed into a relatively small area. From the open basin near the Mid-Bay Bridge to tucked-away backwaters where redfish cruise the edges and dolphins often pass by, every day on the bay offers something different. Whether we’re drifting over a flat, anchoring near structure, or poling along a shoreline, we’ll adjust based on what the fish are doing and what kind of experience you’re looking for.
