Kids Fishing Trip

Our kids’ fishing charters in Choctawhatchee Bay are designed to create an exciting, hands-on experience that gets young anglers hooked on the outdoors. These shorter, catch-and-release trips are all about action—we focus on spots with high bite potential to keep kids engaged and smiling from start to finish. For many, it’s their very first time fishing, and we take that responsibility seriously by making it fun, safe, and unforgettable. From reeling in their first fish to learning about the local marine life, every moment is aimed at sparking a lifelong love for the water and the sport of fishing.

Our trips can start around 11AM or 2PM.

Target Species

We are blessed to have a great year round fishery here on the Choctawhatchee Bay!

Spring – Spring kicks off the prime season in Choctawhatchee Bay, especially for speckled trout. As the water warms and baitfish begin to grow, trout move onto the shallow flats in large numbers, making for exciting action on light tackle. Redfish are also active this time of year, particularly around docks and structure where they hold tight and ambush prey. It’s a great season for consistent bites and pleasant weather on the water.

Summer – Summer brings hot weather and fast-paced fishing. Mangrove snapper are thick around bridges, docks, and other structure, offering fun, reliable action and great eating. Spanish mackerel make their seasonal push through the bay as well, chasing schools of baitfish and creating high-energy opportunities. With a variety of species active and calm mornings common, summer is perfect for families and anglers looking for steady action.

Fall – Fall is all about the bull reds. As the water cools, massive schools of adult redfish flood into the bay, creating unforgettable opportunities to hook into drag-screaming giants. These fish often push bait to the surface and can be spotted busting in open water. Trout fishing remains strong in the early part of fall, and the mix of size and species makes it one of the most exciting times to fish.

Winter – Winter in Choctawhatchee Bay offers a quieter, more laid-back experience, but the fishing can still be excellent. Redfish stay active in the shallows, especially on sunny days when the water warms up, and trout can still be found in deeper holes and channels. It’s a great season for those who enjoy calm, cool mornings and less boat traffic while still having the chance to catch quality inshore fish.

Where We Fish

Our kids fishing trips are shorter in duration and centered even more around safety and maximizing fishing time. We explore a diverse range of spots tailored to the conditions and what you’re hoping to catch. On all our fishing days we’ll stay within a short run of the dock—typically fishing within 10 minutes of departure. We target the shallow grass flats where speckled trout love to feed, the dock lines and bridge pilings that hold redfish and mangrove snapper, and the winding bayous where we can get deep into the undeveloped, natural beauty of Old Florida.
